How we build recruitment AI

Our engineering comes out of AvantIT, where the team spent years building and running systems for organisations that could not afford them to fail. Four commitments shape what we build.

Explainability

White-box by construction

The system states which requirements a candidate met, which they missed and what in the application supports each conclusion. This is an architectural decision, not a report generated after the fact: an explanation produced separately from the analysis is a guess about it.

Sovereignty

A platform we can host ourselves

The platform is designed to be self-hosted under our own control rather than assembled from third-party services we cannot inspect. For European customers handling candidate data, where the processing happens is part of the specification.

Models

A language model specialised in recruitment

General-purpose models are a starting point, not a destination. Our own smaller model, trained on feedback from pilot customers and specialised in recruitment language, is scheduled for production in Q1 2027.

Integration

Fits the tools already in place

Most teams already have somewhere applications land. Venora Match connects to an existing applicant tracking system through modern APIs and connectors built with AvantIT, rather than requiring a migration first.

Regulation as a design input

AI systems used in recruitment are classified as high-risk under the EU AI Act, whose transparency and human-oversight obligations apply from 2 August 2026. We treated those requirements as product requirements from the first design review: explainable analysis, a person confirming every outcome, and a record of both.

This is also why our comparisons with other tools focus on explainability and oversight rather than feature counts — see how Venora Match compares with the market.
